Password Complexity Requirements


Passwords must meet minimum complexity requirements per RESPEC company policy “Information Technology Security Policy (version 1.1)”. To meet the minimum requirements passwords must meet the following conditions: 


  • Does not contain your user account name or parts of your full name that exceed two consecutive characters, words like "password", commonly used words like "spring", "summer", "RESPEC" (or any variation of) etc.
  • Must be at least nine characters long.
  • Must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z).
    • English lowercase characters (a through z).
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example: !, $, #, %).

 

Changing your RESPEC password


Method 1: Using a RESPEC computer
To use this method, you need to be using a RESPEC-owned computer.
 NOTE: Password changes may take up to 30 minutes to take effect.

  1. Ensure your computer is connected to the RESPEC network through a VPN or in a RESPEC office.
  2. Change your password by pressing CTRL+ALT+Delete and choosing "Change Password."


You should now restart your computer and enter your new password at the login prompt.

Method 2: Using the self-service portal
Use this method if you are a RESPEC employee that is out of the office, using an Apple computer, or are a PA or Contractor that does not have a RESPEC computer.
NOTE: Password changes may take up to 1 hour to take effect.

 To use the self-service password reset:

  • You need a RESPEC email address.
  • You have registered for a self-service password reset.
  • Your current password is more than one day old.



  1. Open a browser to Password Reset Portal.
  2. Type in your RESPEC username. The RESPEC username is in the form of "[email protected]."
  3. Enter the characters in the picture.


If you use this method on a RESPEC computer without connecting the computer to the RESPEC network, you will need to use your old password until the next time you connect your computer to the RESPEC network, either by VPN or in an office.
