This solutions article explains the process of setting up Grammarly for the first time.
Invitation
You will receive an invitation to the RESPEC Grammarly account in your e-mail. You will need to follow the link in the e-mail to finish creating and setting up a Grammarly login.
Using Grammarly
A user of Grammarly has three separate ways to use the product once they have an account.
- Website cloud access
- Desktop App
-
Add-in extensions
- Word
- Outlook
- Browser
First Time Login
The first time you open any one of the Grammarly desktop apps it will ask you to authenticate your account. For the outlook add-in, it will look similar to below.
When you click the login button it will open a browser window that will show you a login page. Logging in here with the Grammarly account you created will then finish the login process in the outlook or other desktop app you are using. It should save this for each of the apps and only need to be done the first time.
Website Cloud Access
Website cloud access is at http://app.grammarly.com
Desktop App
Once installed through Software Center the application can be opened from the Start menu or search bar.
The application itself allows you to open previous files you have previously made or create new documents for it to review.
Add-in Extensions
Outlook - The outlook add-in will apply a Grammarly pane next to your message drafting window that will offer corrections to the grammar inside the message.
Word - The word add-in is very similar to the outlook add-in and will create a side panel when open to your document offering suggestions for grammatical changes.
Browser - Grammarly has a browser add-in for each available browser. You will need to install this extension from the Grammarly cloud app HTTP://app.grammarly.com/apps
Once installed the browser extension will search open text areas and provide grammatical suggestions by highlighting words or phrases in input fields.
