What is software center for?
RESPEC uses a piece of software to manage application installations on user's computers called Software Center. This is similar to the app store you would find on your cell phone. RESPEC takes commonly used applications and packages them for use for employees to download through Software Center.
Before installing an application it's best to search software center to see if it is available for download there. Some applications that are licensed are controlled by IT and not visible to employees until an employee receives permission to install it. If you do not see an application in software center you may be able to request IT make it available to you. Please submit a ticket to the helpdesk if this is the case.
How to open software center and find an application to install:
1) Open the search bar in windows and search for "software center"
Open software center when it finds the results.
2) By default it will show you a list of available applications.
You can use the search field to search for a specific application.
If an application does not show when you search for it. The application may already be installed. Double check under the "Installation Status" area that the application has not been installed already.
3) When you find an application you want to install you can select it and click the "install" button.
