Understanding Your Mimecast On-Hold Digest

Mimecast automatically filters incoming messages and, if suspicious emails are held, you will receive a regular email digest notification. This digest provides a summary of emails that have been placed in your personal On-Hold queue.

The digest email empowers you with several options for managing these quarantined messages:

  • Release: If you recognize a message in your digest that should not have been blocked, clicking Release will deliver the email to your inbox. Future emails from this sender will still be subject to scanning.
  • Permit Sender: To release a message and ensure future emails from that specific sender are delivered directly to your inbox (bypassing spam checks, though still scanned for viruses and malicious content), click Permit Sender. This adds the sender to your personal list of approved senders.
  • Block Sender: If you receive a message that is clearly spam or malicious, you can choose to Block Sender, which will prevent future emails from this sender from reaching your inbox.

Accessing and Managing Your Email Security Settings

In addition to actions available directly within the On-Hold Digest, Mimecast provides robust tools for managing your email security:

  • Mimecast Personal Portal:You can access the Mimecast Personal Portal at any time to view all your on-hold messages, not just the newest ones listed in the digest. This portal is your central hub for managing quarantined email.
  • Managed Senders: Within the Mimecast Personal Portal, you can review and manage your personal lists of Permitted Senders and Blocked Senders. This gives you direct control over who can and cannot email you.
  • Account Management: The Mimecast Personal Portal serves as your primary interface for all email security account management, including accessing your full on-hold queue and updating your sender preferences. Your IT department will provide details on how to access the Mimecast Personal Portal.
